Netflix's much awaited film The Gray Man has been released. As the name suggests, this film is not going to deal in black and white. The film tells the story of a hero with a gray shade who settles between good and evil.
The name of this hero is Court Gentry. He has been in jail in a murder case. Impressed by his ability, the CIA gives him an offer. If you work for us, then the punishment will be forgiven. Gentry agrees. It is code-named Sierra 6. CIA Chief Denny selects Carmichael Six for an operation. Six has to kill a 'Bad Cow' and get the chip kept with him. When Six, who believes in principles and morals, kills that man, then he realizes that he is not a bad man. So instead of handing over the chip to Denny, he hides it and disappears himself. There is so much dangerous information in that chip that it could eat up Denny's job. So he calls Hanson Lloyd to finish Six. Hanson is a Psychopathic Private Mercenary which operates illegally. The story is whether Hanson is able to find the chip after eliminating the six.

The Gray Man basically talks about ideology. She chooses a good man, who is a criminal. Being a nice guy and a criminal is a bit of a weird combination. This is talked about in a very thoughtful way in Better Call Saul. Which shows that not every criminal is necessarily a bad person. There is a scene in the series where a novice drug dealer and Mike Armantrot are in talks. Mike says-
If you're gonna be a criminal, do your homework.
In response to this the man says-
Wait. I'm not a bad guy.
What Mike says to him in response is one of the most deadly and memorable things in this series. he says-
I didn't say you were bad guy. I said you're a criminal. I've known good criminals and bad cops. Bad priests, honorable thieves... You can be on one side of the law or the other.
So your court gentry aka Sierra Six, is a good criminal. He encounters a psychopathic villain named Hanson. Hanson is out and out negative character. There is no gray area for him, he plays in black. And he can go to any extent to fulfill his purpose. You got two main characters. Who are playing mouse and cat game with each other. But he has no word or idea in this fight. There is only action. Unreasonable action. Great quality action. But only action.

This film starts its talk with ideology. But the idea is left behind somewhere. Only the fluent action remains for the audience's part. But it is very well choreographed and great type of action. Beautiful places around the world. Fancy Action Blocks. Battle of two very good looking people. From car to tram, building, look where the bombing-firing is going on. But it doesn't help in making the action film better. I personally use a method to understand action films. I take out the action from that film. If still that story remains to be seen, then I consider it a good action film. Because action can only be filler. He cannot replace the story. You can't just watch the action continuously for two and a half hours. You need some substances. If it is not there, then the film looks hollow. 'The Gray Man' is the same hollow film.
Ryan Gosling has played the role of Court Gentry i.e. Sierra Six in the film. How he became a criminal, he has a backstory. What makes him a good man along with being a criminal. Ryan Gosling appears with a dead-pan expression throughout the film. This thing adds a mystery element to that character. You think, man, nothing surprised this man. He is not getting sad or disappointed by anything. There is a scene in the film, where after coming out of the mouth of death, Gentry stares into the void for five seconds. Then comes quietly, the CIA agent comes and sits in Miranda's car. I don't think any dialogue in that scene could have been more weighty than that silence.

Chris Evans has played the role of Hanson Lloyd. Chris is known for playing the role of 'Captain America' in Marvel's films. He is seen here in a negative character. That character has a comic undertone. But he is crazy. He worked for the CIA for five and a half years. Then fired. Because he used to deal with his subjects in a very cruel way. So now it has become a freelance mercenary. You enjoy the performance of Chris Evans. Ana de Armas as CIA agent Miranda. Which is seen helping the court gentry on most of the occasions.
Were waiting for Dhanush in 'The Gray Man'. Dhanush played the role of a contract killer named Avik. When Hanson's private army is destroyed, Avik aka Lone Wolf comes into the scene. Hanson sends him to retrieve that chip from the Sierra Six. The role of Dhanush is small in the film. But it is a solid cameo. But he is heard speaking only two-three lines. Like the film, they also do not talk or think, they just keep on doing action.

'The Gray Man' is an expensive looking action film, which has nothing new to say. Nothing new to show. He feels that he has two big stars, who will clash and the public will enjoy. But there must be a valid and convincing reason for their fight. Hanson Lloyd and Court Gentry are fighting at the behest of a third. They have no personal reason to fight amongst themselves. I will not say that this is a boring film. I just want to remind you one thing. There are many movies in the world and you have limited time. So what you want to see, you have to choose carefully.
